What to look at before buying a used Panasonic
- Most Lumix bodies shot video; read shutter count together with the grade, not on its own
- In the photos check the flip-screen hinge for cracks or misalignment, and ask the shop for a short clip if unsure
- Micro Four Thirds lenses also fit Olympus; compare prices across both brands first
- S-series full-frame bodies share the L-mount with Sigma and Leica, so lens choice is wide
If it is a lens, what to look at
- Start with the backlit photos of the front and rear elements: no fungus, haze or scratches. Ask the shop if they are missing
- Look at the focus ring, zoom ring and mount flange in the photos: rubber that is not loose or swollen and little scuffing on the metal mean light use. For stabilised or motorised lenses, ask the shop before ordering if the listing does not say they were tested
- Make sure the mount matches your camera; it is stated on every product page. A wrong mount needs an adapter or will not fit at all
- Read the box-contents list for front cap, rear cap and hood; some hoods are hard to find and expensive on their own
The same model may be sold by several shops in different grades and at different prices. Open the model page to compare every unit.
About Panasonic
Lumix is a strong choice for hybrid shooters because Panasonic spreads serious video features across much of the lineup, from compact G-series vlog bodies to GH workhorses and full-frame S models. Know which branch you are buying: Micro Four Thirds for lighter bodies and lenses, or full-frame L-mount with shared lens options from Sigma and Leica. Used listings show the shop’s condition grade, stated warranty and included items.
